Accountability

Good evening,

John 16:7-11

[7]Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.[8]And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:[9]Of sin, because they believe not on me;[10]Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;[11]Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

Accountability is for all. It's not just for God's children.

In John 16:8, Jesus says, "And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment". The Greek word elenxei used in this verse means "to rebuke, convince, or accuse". In this verse, Jesus is referring to the Holy Spirit's ministry in relation to the unsaved world, which includes reproving the world, or showing it to be wrong.

The Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as "The Comforter". The Holy Spirit came when Jesus ascended to heaven. For the saved, the Holy Spirit is our comforter and guider. We are judged and will have a "judgement day". The difference is, when Jesus died He paid the price for our sins. So, we (that are saved) have salvation and righteousness through Him. However, the lost of this world are and will be judged for their sins and not believing in Him. The world is and will be held accountable for not believing in Jesus. Do you believe in Jesus? Do you know Him as Lord of your life? Have you excepted His redemption? You will be held accountable one way or the other. Which will you be held accountable for, as His child or someone who He never knew? The choice is yours.
