Restoration And Rest

Published on 4 March 2024 at 10:05

Good morning, wow how amazing is that? He restores our souls and leads us down the paths to Him for His names sake. Owe there's more....

  Psalms 23:1-6
[1](A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
[2]He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
[3]He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
[4]Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
[5]Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
[6]Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I shall not want, this doesn't mean that everything I want will be provided to me, but everything I need will be available. He will provide our needs. However, we still need to do our part. We can't just sit back lazy waiting on Him to give our needs to us.

I skipped the most important part, He's our shepherd. This means He's our guider and protector. A shepherd guides , watches and protects his sheep.

Verse 2, Jesus brings calming peace! If a shepherd brings his sheep to lie down in a green pasture near still water, they will be calm and have everything they need.

I have already talked about verse 3, let's go to verse 4. This verse is often used in funerals or as comfort during the loss of a loved one. It isn't just for that though. Walking the path He has laid for us in this sinful world is like walking through the valley of death. People who don't know Jesus as their Savior are destined for death. As we walk this world, we're surrounded by them. We don't need to fear them or evel though or this world. Jesus is always with us, He comforts and protects us.

Wow, so He sets us a table before our enemies. What says "chill I've got this" more than sit down at a table and eat while being attacked. Verse 5 continues with us being anointed and our cup running over. So understand this, not only will we be calm in the face of adversity, but we will be overflowing with our needs being met.

The big finally in verse 6. This sums up the reward for us as faithful children of God! Goodness and mercy all of our days. Wrap it up with a bow, icing on the cake, fireworks; the analogies go on.... We get to live in The House of The Lord FOREVER!!!!!

If all of this doesn't get you excited as a child of God, then you need to get a spiritual check up! We just covered how we have provision, peace, protection and perpetuity of life. How much more could we ask for? If you don't know Jesus as your Savior, trust in Him today.
