He Never Promised It Would Be Easy

Jesus never promised that if we chose to follow Him that the path would be easy. Infact, He tells us that the path is narrow and hard. That few will go down it. There will be trials in our life. Jesus didn't walk an easy path when He was on this earth. He suffered and was tempted. Matt 4: 1-11 tells us of how he was tempted but didn't give in and there are multiple accounts of his crucifixion in the Bible including Mark 15:24, Luke 23:33, John 19:18, Matthew 27:35. He was beaten and spat on, even ridiculed. Then let's talk about Job. We can read about him in Job 1: 6-22 where the devil asked if he could try Job. Job was eat up with boils from head to toe, he suffered the death of loved ones, judgement from friends even his own wife wanted him to give up, but Job remained faithful. We could also look at Ann who never stopped fasting or praying, no matter her age.  Luke 2:36–38. She had to be over a 100 years old when the birth of Jesus was announced, but she never stopped. She fasted and prayed every day. She had everything stripped from her yet she remained faithful as a prayer warrior! We're not promised an easy path after following Jesus, it's just the opposite. After picking up our cross and following Him the devil is going to come after you full force. However, we're reminded in John 14: 16-18 that we're not alone. When Jesus died and was resurrected, He sent the Holy Spirit. He also prays for us! Yes that's right our heavenly Father makes intercession for us! We are precious to Him. He would no more abandon us than you would abandon your child. My husband was called to be a preacher and I was called to be a speaker we have both stepped out, been attacked and then stepped back. We have to quit stepping back! We have to be BOLD! We have to step out in faith knowing that no matter what comes our Lord and Savior is there with us!
