Good Sunday morning, tradition is ok as long as we don't put it before being obedient to God. All too often today tradition is put first and God last. Focus is put too much on rituals and not allowing the Holy Spirit a chance to work.
Mark 7:6-13
[6]He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
[7]Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
[8]For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
[9]And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
[10]For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
[11]But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
[12]And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
[13]Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Be aware of false prophets that speak man's word and not God's. Prophets that encourage their way and not God's are false prophets. The Bible warns of this.
Matthew 7:15
[15]Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
1 John 4:1
[1]Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Matthew 24:24
[24]For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
We need to be cautious of who we allow to lead us spiritually and in life. God and His word should come first, before traditions and all else. Making up rules that have nothing to do with God's word won't get us into heaven and they won't bring us closer to Christ.
My hope is this, that you will keep your eyes open and stay focused on God. If you don't know Jesus as your Savior please reach out to me or a pastor, Christian friend or family member!
